GlanNant Banbury Cross

"Bambi" came to Kelviden Farm in 1995 for me to sell.  I guess I didn't do a very good job as she's still here!    "Bambi's" sister GlanNant First Star had been my last pony as a junior and I was anxious to acquire any GlanNant ponies I could find.  I finally admitted defeat and bought her myself.

She's a beautiful mare.  One of the last true big old fashioned Welsh ponies.  I hope to breed her one of these years but I can't seem to spare herfrom my lesson program for that long.

"Bambi"  has tromped around the ring for endless hours teaching kids to ride.  At a show last spring I swear I saw her switch her rhythm to get the child on the correct diagonal.  She knows her job and she does it well.  She's also been a phenomenal hunter pony and has won numerous national awards. On April 5,2002 Bambi presented Bambi with an adorable little filly.  We had been so worried.  At eighteen, Bambi was awfully old to be having her first foal.  But "Lizzie" came into this world without any trouble at all and she was appropriately name Kelviden Cross Your Fingers.  The joke was that if Bambi waited any longer to have that foal, we would have called her Kelviden Cross Your Legs.  Bambi proved to be a wonderful mother and is in foal to Bristol Sereno for a May 2003 foal.

"Bambi" is a neat pony.  She's grumpy, she hates other horses and she'll bite you if you're not careful when you tighten her girth.  But that's what makes her "Bambi" and we love her for it!
