Dollhouse Moonshadow
"Jasper"

snowJasperbig.jpg (62165 bytes) When I was eight years old, I bought a black stallion for Kelviden Farm.  Admittedly it was my Breyer horse farm and the stallion was plastic.  Nevertheless, the breeding program of Kelviden Farm was born.  When asked why I bought Jasper, I often reply that I did not buy Jasper, he bought me.  I am a firm believer in Fate, and I believe that I was meant to have Jasper from the time I brought home that little plastic horse.
I had heard that Cynthia Doll had a colt that was stunning.  That was nice.  I was a performance person, not a breeder.  I heard he was by Salvandi Calidog.  That perked my interest as I had always adored Cali, but I was still not a Breeder.
jaspartrotting1.jpg (20734 bytes) Yet one day I went to the Doll House website and there was Jasper!  Perhaps if his name had been Sun shadow, I wouldn't have paid much attention.  But his name was Moon Shadow, and I've always had a thing for the moon.  But ultimately, what I noticed was that he didn't just look like that little Breyer horse.  He was the spitting image!
So a few days later I dragged my husband to see this cute little colt.  As we were pulling into the driveway of Doll House Farm, I reminded him that I couldn't afford this colt and we were just there to look.  He laughed at me and said that he knew we were taking this colt home as long as he had four legs.  Well deep in my heart I knew he was right.

I walked into Jasper's stall and the little two year old colt put his head on my shoulder and began to nibble on my hair.  I almost cried.  Some things are just meant to be.  So on his second birthday, Jasper came home!

At Cynthia's Jasper had placed at Devon in 1999 in the yearling colt class.  Also in 1999, he was Champion Junior Colt at the Virginia Spring Fling and the NEWPA horse shows .  In 2000 he was supreme champion Welsh pony the only time he was shown!  In 2001 I showed him lightly in hand and under saddle, but 2002 was his year.  He learned to be a performance pony and he loved it.

In 2002 Jasper was Reserve national champion with both the USA Equestrian and the Welsh Pony associations.  He also finished fourth with the Welsh pony association in the Medium large Hunters.

In 2003 Jasper was shown in the hunters at 12 shows.  He came home with seven champions, Three reserves and two thirds.  Not bad for a five year old Stallion!

Jasparhead.jpg (49102 bytes) Jasper has no babies yet.  Someday soon!  But for now I'm just enjoying the amazing talent I found in that little Breyer horse.  Jasper makes me smile and he has somehow made Kelviden farm seem so much more like a reality.
